Chief Enterprise Architect

 

Scott Thompson is recognized for his ability to help businesses solve complex problems using simple IT solutions that last. Throughout his 15-year career as a programmer and enterprise architect, he’s worked with industry leaders in financial services, telecommunications and insurance underwriting. 

 

Before joining Tricension, Scott was the sole architect for H&R Block Financial Advisors, where he established the company’s first successful services oriented architecture implementation. In 2004, he designed a world-class lead management system for the company’s 1,000 advisors, which combined a range of technologies including Microsoft .NET, TIBCO, AmberPoint, Oracle, SQL Server and Dynamics CRM. For his innovative efforts, Scott received a Network World award for one of the top 50 projects of the year.

 

As a programmer, he has extensive experience in a variety of approaches including object-oriented programming, services-oriented architecture, and agile methods such as SCRUM and RUP. As an enterprise architect, Scott has equal expertise in systems analysis and design, strategic planning, product management, enterprise systems implementation, and team leadership.

Scott has published several articles related to services-oriented architecture in leading trade journals such as ComputerWorld, InformationWeek and Forrester magazine. He also has been invited to share his expertise at analyst conferences hosted by Gartner and the Burton Group. Scott has his bachelor’s degree in computer science from St. Ambrose University.
