Workflow Questions?
Scott was recently asked, “What software would you recommend for mapping/mocking up/wire framing a workflow before you build it?”
Here are his recommendations and insights:
Although working in Nintex to build a workflow is a completely valid method, as an Enterprise Architect I have found that it can limit your thinking to what the workflow tool can do versus what the business requirements actually are.
The tool I use most often is Microsoft Visio 2013. In Visio, I am able to quickly design workflows in different layouts (UML, Standard Flowchart, etc) and then deliver to my end users in different formats (PDF, PNG, etc) depending on the audience I’m dealing with. In addition, you can also create storyboards to design complex user interfaces or data entry forms that may also be participating in the workflow.
Visio is actually available on a subscription basis now via Office365 (as low as $13/month I believe), so it makes the tool pretty affordable for everyone.
